Hello,
I have a domain outside hostmonster and want it to point to the dns servers of hostmonster.
Doing this would normally work but I think i have to change the account name.
For example,
I bought the domain
computransonline(dot)net with this hosting package and am pointing it to another server. Now I have another domain company I am using for .tv domains and want to point push-play(dot)tv to the dns' here.
Any ideas on how to work arround this issue. I personally think the 'webhosting' account name has to be changed to push-play.tv so that the domain properly points to it. I've done it with other webhosting companies and this was the issue.
Let me know and thanks for your help,
Nick

Bahhhh check the search after and may have found the solution. Add on domains does more then I though if this is the right track let me know and sorry for the extra thread.

Nope still having a problem, perhaps hostmonster can't add in a .tv domain. I've made a ticket.

You make the change to ns1.hostmonster.com with the registrar of the domain. You can usually edit this yourself in the same place where you would change your contact information etc. The registration remains with the original registrar, the dns entry that is part of that registration simply points to HM's nameservers. Then you can 'acquire' this domain as an add-on at HM.
There is no particular need to have a real domain associated with your hostmonster account. I'm in the same position as you, HM doesn't register for .ca domains so I've never used my 'free' HM domain. My login at HM is based on that domain name but the 'main' domain of my account isn't registered at HM and doesn't need to be.
Since I'm 'throwing away' a free domain, it has occurred to me to register some other domain but that would then involve setting up a whole new HM account and moving me over etc.
In retrospect, it would have been smartest to think of a secondary domain that I wanted and could register at HM as my freebie, make that my 'sign up' domain and then add-on my main domain. But as always, hindsight is 20-20

I had similar problems transferring a .nz domain. The script never worked.
However, a live chat person fixed it manually within a few minutes.

You can point all international domain names to addon domains at hostmonster. You just canīt "transfer" them to hostmonster.

as above mentioned...

and he get support to help add the domain.

Yes but he didn't clear up whether all endings are supported and they indeed are as far as pointing is concerned.

Somehow I don't think that it's an issue. The domain is never transfered to HostMonster, the domain remains registered with its original registrar. The entries maintained by that registrar for nameserver are simply pointed toward ns1 and ns2.hostmonster.com (and this can only be done by someone with authority over that domain registration ie: the owner)
I think that all that the hostmonster side does is just verify that the remote nameserver entries direct queries to hostmonster's dns and then you're good to go.
