Guess I'm old fashioned, but I'm happy with a plain old text editor. I read that some web host insist one uses their web builder.

Will I have a problem with Hostmonster?

No, just upload your pages via ftp. I design in Dreamweaver and just use the built in ftp client to upload.

I think that is for people that use web builders. I have yet to look at the one hostmonster has. I'm like you ... I like to write it all out, though I'm not really very good at writing code at all .... in fact .... I really am horrible ... lol

What can you expect from being self taught?

Why not be adventurous and try something else? You're missing out on all the fun technologies that are being offered by scripting languages like php and Perl. I suggest u install some scripts using Fantastico and then play around with them. If you don't like, you can always uninstall later.

No way. You won't have a problem with Hostmonster. I checked out the web builder, never tried one before. Looks pretty nifty, but I'll never use it. But like some have said, notepad, dreamweaver, frontpage; The way that you like to create pages is compatible with hostmonster. Heck, you can request ssh access (it's free) and create your pages with vi or emacs.

MAN! Everyone and their mother has Dreamweaver!

... wish I had the money to get that program. I'm fed up with Frontpage 2002. It doesn't have very good support for creating decent templates.

Anyone know where I can get a seriously discounted copy of Dreamweaver!?! For a non-profit organization?

Check Adobe's website. They might have changed the pricing since Macromedia was taken over. Else, you have to run the risk of being caught for illegal programs. :D

I have and it is still way up there. And I can see it now with the church administrator:

Me: "Hey, I just finished building you an absolutely great site!"
Admin: "Oh yeah? What did you use?"
Me: "Oh, ... well, ... you see, ... I used .... ahh .... Dreamweaver."
Admin: "Isn't that really expensive?"
Me: "Well, yeah, but you can start a design business with it."
Admin: "Where did you get yourself a copy?"
Me: " ... What? ... "

Somehow, I don't think using an illegal copy of a program to benefit a church is .... well ... right ... ya know?

Kindest Regards

Try CMS then. I'm sure CSS can be done in a text editor.
