Hello, I'm looking for assistance from anyone who has installed TYPO3 on hostmonster in the past. I've done a lot of research and haven't found any "user friendly" documentation on installing on hostmonster specifically. I've found several threads online discussing the steps and requirements needed to install, but none relating to hostmonster specifically. Wikipedia has a page dedicated to TYPO3 installation, but it is a little difficult to follow.

Is there anyone out there that has experience setting up TYPO3 for hostmonster that lend a hand or perhaps give a URL with some documentation that I can download and use?

I have SSH/Shell access to the hostmonster servers but am not sure how to use this to install TYPO3 specifically. Do I need to setup a database on the backend prior to installation? I noticed an issue with "symbolic linking" that I should (or shouldn't) be aware of potentially?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

I think I installed it some time ago and don't remember all the installation steps, but most all programs like this follow the same basic steps:

Create the database and database user
Upload all the associated files to the directory in which you want the program to run
Follow links to the auto installer that walks your through the rest of the steps

I will try to find time to look at the instructions for Typo3 tonight if I can, but I can't promise anything. It might be a day or two before I can return with any significant reply. The only other thing I can suggest is to try and read the instructions very slowly and completely - do not skip over any words. I find sometimes when I am in a hurry or think I know something, I tend to skip over large chunks of instructions. This eventually leads to confusion and frustration because it isn't working like I think it should ... all because I forgot to read those last few words.

I'm not suggesting you did this, and I can appreciate the frustration that comes from reading instructions not written very well, but I am just suggesting things.
