How would I go about having recorded sermons (for my church) on a website.
Each recorded sermon is about 60 minutes in length and we want to allow people to listen to them from a website at anytime.
Would I need a dedicated server for this and
Is there any particular software I would need to purchase?
Thanks for your help.

Check out www.febconline.org (http://www.febconline.org).
Sermons are uploaded in .wma format and linked to so you can:
A) Listen to them as a guest
B) Download them to your computer as a registered user
If you go to the site, navigate through the Media Ministry link and view the list of sermons.
All the software I've used is free.

Are the sermons being recorded now? If not, you have a couple of choices.
Tape them on cassette then capture them into your PC using a free open source application called "Audacity". It's available at:
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/about/
If you install Audacity on a PC or notebook, the sermon can be recorded directly to your hard drive using the program. The audio file can then be converted to an MP3 file for upload to your website. Since the sermon will be speech only, using a low bit rate like 90bps will make the file very small and save on download time.
There are other sound capture applications like Nero and I think Roxio can do it too, but these apps cost money and don't do anything better than Audacity.
Good luck and let us know how you make out with the sermons!
