Is HM mail an open relay?

When configuring email clients, I have to use HM as my outgoing SMTP server. Yet I'm not required to enter any account information, just indicate mail.mydomain.com as the SMTP server.

Does this mean that HM is running as an open relay?

Hostmonster verifies your domain is on our servers the first time you connect and then allows your IP to sendmail through a mail client for up to 15 mins after. To send again you first need to check your mail (Read mail) and then it reverifies again for another 15 mins. Hence the send/receive button in Outlook actually has a good use for once :)
