Hi everyone! An absolute novice here.

I am just using Dreamweaver on my Mac for the first time to set up a website and the software is asking me if I wish to choose a server technology and if so, which one...coldfusion, ASP.NET, PHP, or JSP?

Should I select a server technology? If so, which one would I use with hostmonster?

If you're not going to do any dynamic webpages, it doesn't matter, as you will be using solely HTML. And if you only use dreamweaver for your site, then that will be the case.

Other than that, the safest bet is PHP, it's the most widely used, followed by ASP. JSP and Coldfusion are much less mainstream.

OK, thank you very much. I thought the server technology had to match hostmonster's servers, LOL.

Yes, I will be sticking to just Dreamweaver so I will just click no.

Oh well, in hostmonster you only have PHP and Ruby on Rails so there's no other choice if you settle down in hostmonster.

If you want ASP, for example, you'll have to move to another hosting company which offers Windows servers.
