The domain name transfer was completed over 6 hours ago, but still points to the old website. Am I still just waiting for the dns servers to update or is there something more that needs to be done?

Waiting is all you can do, DNS records take a long time to replicate to the root servers and then on to all the other DNS servers across the world. Be patient.. 48 - 72 hours typically is a good estimate. sometimes longer, sometimes shorter..;)
