I was trying to boot up a teamspeak server for the first time using this command:

./teamspeak2-server_startscript start

and it caused an error. (yes I do have a dedicated IP.)

starting the teamspeak2 server
Error, Either an old instance of teamspeak is still running, or
an other application is using the tcpquery port!
Error, Server was not started!

Also my dedicated ip when placed in a browser refers to http://xxxx.mysite.com instead of
http://www.mysite.com which deems having a dedicated ip pointless. Contacted tech
support - they verified the error then asked why would it matter if that was the case - they were useless.

Any help would be appreciated at least on the teamspeak side just had to vent about my ip.

Err... I cannot see them allowing you a teamspeak server on these accounts? Did I read that wrong? lol

I get that error sometimes. It's like the server thinks Teamspeak is still running. When I get it, I use this:

./teamspeak2-server_startscript restart

That will close all instances before starting.

(That's assuming your setup is all correct)

I have a question about this before purchasing..

How much does a Dedicated IP Cost?

I cant remember where i found it, i think its $30.00/year?

And are we allowed to use TS?

Yes -

Dedicated IP = $30.00 each year [$2.50 mo.]

This is from their knowledgebase:

Installing Teamspeak for voice chat requires a Dedicated IP and SSH access. We do not in any way support teamspeak. This article is here for your convenience only. We do not support the setup, or troubleshooting of it.

I've run Teamspeak for almost 2 years here. No real issues.
