i have saved a welcome message in cpanel, but after logging in as anonymous user there is only a link "welcome.msg", not the meassage itself. is this correct? and if it is correct, is there a way to change the name of the link to for example "read.me"?

The login message will only be shown if you use the command line method of logging into your FTP account.
If you use a client such as FileZilla or CuteFTP, then you will see a link to the welcome message file you pointed out.
I haven't tried changing it, but I believe if you do change it, then you will no longer be able to see the message when logging in via command line. You might also create errors in the logs because the file, welcome.msg will not be found. Either that, or the renamed file will be change back to the original name.
It should not hurt anything to give it a try though, you can always change things back of it doesn't work out.

the welcome.msg is just a text file as far as that goes not a link. it contains whatever you want (text) but it is as shadmego says: only command line. i would also like to make a secure login to a gui style ftp but i havent yet so i just shut my ftp off for now
