Hi,
I am a real novice and am having difficulty setting up Easygen with adatabase.
The database connector wizard requests the server name, my username, password and database name. I have entred these and any variations I can think of but keep getting 'database returned error messages' 'socket not connected'?
Anyone know easy gen or what info I need to type in?
Thanks
Mike

i am not familiar with easygen but are you using localhost for the server name?

is that software on your own pc or the hm server

Hi pghcollectibles, the software is on my pc. It is web script development software that is meant to be easy to use! I think it is basically website authoring software that does the back end coding for you for login forms shopping carts etc.

The database and my website are on the HM server.
I tried using localhost but that didn't work.

I have tried the shared IP address shown in the left hand column of the Cpanel, I have tried the nameserver address and IP number as well as the ftp address.

Thanks for trying to help

I think you have to setup with Tech Suppport a connection for your specific home IP address through to your HostMonster server.

You can't just connect to a database on a HM server without this setup being done.

perhaps even ssh is needed but live chat would most likely be able to answer your question
