The $5.95 special promo rate only applies to initial/new signups. It does not apply to renewals.

Currently, renewing for another 12 months costs $8.95/mo or $107.40 total. For 24 months the rate is $7.95/mo or $190.80 total. For 36 months the rate is $6.95/mo or $250.20 total.

I recently had to renew and was disappointed that I couldn't pay at the same low rate as in the promo, but that is just how the business works.

They've increased the price again? Thats disappointing - I would much rather stick with my current bandwidth/disk space and pay the same as when I first joined (which was 5.95 without any special)

Something interesting you might want to know if you or a friend sign up for another HM account is they seem to set a cookie and lower the price after X days. When I first started looking the price was $6.95. A week later when I came back after visiting each day and beginning but not finishing the ordering process the price was suddenly slashed to $4.95. I quickly discovered the $4.95 offer was only in Firefox from a single PC, and wasn't offered in IE or on any other PC. A while later a friend was shopping around and saw the price was $6.95 even though I could still see it was $4.95 on that one PC/Browser. So I told her to start the order process but not complete it, and come back daily until the price changed to $4.95. Sure enough, it did. :)

HostMonster is CONSTANTLY changes its pricing to see what works best for their customers and what is most profitable for them, due to the fact that there are multiple hosting sites HostMonster has to consider price elasticity and most of the time their prices are very low.. Also if you scan around the web you will find many web hosting reviews sites (like the one in my signature) offer special promotional pricing on hostmonster.... I am very happy with hostmonster though, in my opinion they are worth every penny.
