You get one "free" domain when you first sign up for your Hostmonster account and pay for hosting. If you want to get more domains, it will cost you.

The deal actually is:
1 free domain name or domain transfer when you sign up.
After you sign up, you have to pay $10/yr for any extra domains you want to host on your site ... either new or transferred domains.

I had a similar problem and i talked to customer support and they understood i was a bit stupid and forgave me and they even refunded my cash cause i purchased one instead of using the free option so they were really great with me. perhaps you can do the same if your nice to them i guess.

I think this is incorrect.... I host 15 domains, and I never had to pay extra. What sold me on HostMonster was the ability to host unlimited domains at no extra charge.

I misspoke. You can host unlimited domains.
What you can't do is transfer unlimited domains to HM or create new ones without paying a fee.
If you have a domain name you are paying another registrar to manage, you can change the nameservers for that registrar to HM nameservers and not pay a thing for this.
Forgive me for using the wrong teminology.

Please re-read the responses to your original question above.
When you first registered your account with Hostmonster you probably did not realize that you could get a free domain name (hosted by Hostmonster) with the web space and instead just applied as a 'Transfer Client'. But that is not a problem, since you can host your domain with another registrar and still point it to your web space with Hostmonster by changing the nameservers to those of Hostmonster.
However, if you want to host a new domain name with Hostmonster you will have to pay $10. Unfortunately, you cannot get it for free from Hostmonster since you transferred. You can do what D0gSoldi3r did if you were not aware of this at the beginning.
