View Full Version : My hostmonster site is down peridically

Hello!
I have written millions of times to the Hostmonster folks about regular outage on my site but have not gotten the solution as yet.
Anytime there are more people accessing my site there is an outage for 15-40 minutes and then it automatically comes up.
I get a feeling that the Hostmonster server has put some sort of switch that when the bandwidth exceeds certain limit it is stopped.
This makes a mockery of almost infinte bandwidth that the Hostmonster promises.
Can anyone help in this matter?

We are just regular users like you so unfortunately can't really tell you what may be happening.
Have you Live Chatted with Hostmonster support to try and diagnose the issue?

It may also help in diagnosing your problem if you looked at your error log to see whether there is anything you can address or not.

I, too, have found frequent outages with HostMonster. About 1 in 4 times that I view my web site, I find that it is down. I have opened a number of tickets. The normal answer is that they are doing an upgrade. I don't buy that. I suspect that they are over subscribed on bandwidth, and they are being throttled by their ISP. Or else they have really flaky systems. I also noticed someone on my host that is running very intensive PHP scripts as part of their website. It might just be that your box is overloaded. You can log in using SSH and run the top program to see how busy the machine is.

Did you inform HM about this as well?
I get this so much I'm going to change hosts very soon. I've emailed and called support and they give me answers like "everything is okay on this end it's your problem" when EVERY one of my users have the exact same problem on all of my domains.
At present I can't even log into the control panel (which may be a totally unrelated problem) but still I signed up because of the "99.9% Network Uptime Guarantee" which has been more like 85-90% which is unacceptable because I have a lot of traffic 24/7.

Since this is a user to user forum, none of us can help you fix your problem. You will have to contact HM support to get any resolution. Complaining about it here is complete waste of time.
