Here is a link to a tutorial vid I made about how to enable and use SSH / Shell access on HM. Hope it helps someone, and let me know if you have any suggestions/observations

Sorry for the bump, but this thread deserves it. Anyone who is having trouble with the ssh/shell part of HostMonster should watch the video, which explains it in very simple steps.

... Anyone who is having trouble with the ssh/shell ...

is probably using windows. The video is super helpful I'm sure, but it assumes that everyone is using windows. About half of the work described in the video is not necessary if your OS is Linux or Mac OS X.

I'm hugely grateful for the suggestion to remove one's private key from HM.

Thanks for making this vid and posting it here!

Glad people are still getting something out of it, even though I have moved on.

As for the windows, that was intentional. You are totally right, others don't have to do a lot of these steps, but I thought it was better to provide to much than to little. However, I'll keep that in mind more if I make some more videos.

Thanks,

Great Tutorial!! Thanks! I know your tutorial was done awhile back, but I didn't see a way in CPANEL SSH to rename the RSA key to .ppk. I eventually figured out to use puttygen to load the key into, convert to .ppk format, and save.

Thanks again!
