hi everyone!!

is good to be part of this great community...and happy holidays & best wishes to all...

just wondering if any of you guys know how to set up and add-on domain.

you see, i just bought ...let's say "b.com" to be added in my host account...
but when i type my "b.com" on my browser it takes me to my "a.com" website (my primary domain)...

i am expecting it should take me to my "b.com" parked page, since there is no content on it and i parked it. even i notice my "b.com" doesn't have a control panel...

surely i make a mistake somewhere...can anyone point at me what is it? and how to fix this without compromising the already live content i have on my "a.com" domain.

obviosly i want each of my domains show their own individual content...and when anyone types the url into any browser it should take them exactly to the expected individual content, not mix up's...

i been trying around with no luck and i even submitted a support ticket to this host, customer service, but they are delaying on the response and i need to resolve this issue ASAP, because i want to start adding content to my "b.com"

looking foward for any helpful reply...and thanks in advance.

sincerely,

Hi,

I'm about to try that myself.
I saw that you have to create a subfolder and subdomain.

It did say though, that when you enter b.com,
you will see b.com in the location bar, not a.com/b

I hope support answers you. I just joined today myself.

it can take up to 48 hours for the new domain to propagate to your account. Until then, it will be redirected to the main domain. After that, it should work. If you are still having problems after 2-3 days or so, contact HM support. (this is a user to user forum, not a support forum.)

I tried 'adding' a domain shortly after typing my last post here.
It was still inactive today. It was giving a 'page not found' message,
instead of redirecting to the main page.

I also submitted a request for help but today I went to Live Chat instead.

Try going to http://hostmonster.com and using the link for Live Chat
They first said that I just needed to wait longer but I told them
that the system here was not showing any added on domains.

They looked into it further at that point and got me going in about 20 minutes.
Live Chat is great!

Also... remember that if you want subfolders to work, within the add-on domain,
you must submit the URL with a backslash at the end:

b.com/

Like that.
Good luck.

The Live Chat is certainly one of the best features of Hostmonster. So far they have never failed and their answers have been very quick and concise, just like their fixing of problems.

I know some people have had problems with support but from my side I can only give them A+ so far. I hope it will be the same in the future.

I changed the DNS on 3 more domains yesterday.
This morning I 'added' them here and it worked very quickly.

The email redirects are also working well and the mail
seems to transfer much faster than with my last webhost.

Love it!
