Hi,

I have been having problems sending out eblasts with my site on hostmonster. Does anyone know what is the best way to send out eblasts with their hostmonster site? I have a database of about 400 email addresses. Also, if an email address is invalid, would this hose the server?

Thanks!

By default, Hostmonster limits the amount of outgoing email for each account to 50 emails per hour. This can be raised to a max of 500 per hour with a decent reason by asking support.

Having said that, eblasts sound strangely like spam and I feel it important to inform you that HM has some fairly strict policies on the subject.

Invalid email addresses will be bounced back to the server. Any decent mail list program should have the ability to handle bounced messages without causing problems with the server. If yours does not, I suggest getting a new program

Thanks for the great info! I actually created the eblast script using PHP. It also has a valid email checker, but maybe that isn't working so well. I guess my next question would be about sending emails. If I send one email but have 300 people on the cc list, would that still count as one email or 300?

Tech support told me that would count as 300 emails since the server has to send a copy to each eamail address separately.

Damn! I wonder how I can send an eblast now. :(

Thanks for the info.

I'm installing dadamail from their simple script library. I'll let you know how that works.

If you have problems setting the program up, I know how to perform custom installs. I can help walk you through setting it up or set it up for you.

I was also going to suggest Dada Mail to you! Good job on finding it yourself! :D
