Newbie with some transfer questions...

What comes first? This sounds like one of those chicken or egg things...

I have recently re-designed a website for someone. Their current site was created with FrontPage and is hosted by CompanyA. I have used Dreamweaver basically to re-design the look of their site. They also have a phpBB forum on a different host - CompanyB. I want to transfer both of their accounts to Hostmonster and merge them into one site. I also want to convert their phpBB over to vBulletin. I've read a little about IMPEX and it looks like we can change the board easily enough. I also see it would be easy enough to replace all the current files with my new ones and have the new look. Would the forum board run as an add-on to the main domain or as a sub-domain?

My question is - what would be the easiest, most logical way to execute this change/merge/transfer? I'm tempted to move everything to HM first and then worry about the changes and conversions.

Here (http://hostmonsterforum.com/showthread.php?p=9746#post9746) is a thread/tutorial you can read on how to go about transferring sites to HM. I'm not sure it will be exactly what you are looking for, but it should point you in the right direction.

As far as placing the forum in an addon domain versus a subdomain, it is entirely up to the owner. If they want to spend the money on the extra domain name, then you can do that. Subdomains are free and they provide just about every benefit that addon domains provide, except they use the primary domain in their url. Addon domains use their own name ... acting like their own site.

Thanks for the reply... good info - enough to keep me busy tomorrow! I'm sure I'll have more questions in the next few days and it's nice to know there's help here.
