I'm about to give up. Asked for help on a couple of forums, and no one seems to want to jump in. I'm getting discouraged! They were phpBB forums, as I thought they'd be quick to tell me what is wrong. I hope this is acceptable to ask here... I just moved my 4 domains/sites to be hosted here.
I would LOVE to place a banner at the top of my phpbb3 forum. You can get a general idea of one of my banners on the regular website I do... http://www.EdwinMcCainMusic.com. However, thought it may be easier to just do one photo on the side, rather than an entire banner. WRONG! It's squashed!!!
I read on a phpbb forum that the way to change my logo at the top of the forum is to just replace the logo file with my own. It said to find the sitelogo_small.png file and replace that with my own. OF COURSE, I wanted it to be over twice as wide, but didn't realize it wouldn't fit. Duh. Worked hard to get my logo just right, using one of my own photos and doing the tweaking in Photoshop Elements.
Here it is: http://www.edwinmccainmusic.com/phpBB2/
BTW, I paid a site moving company to move my site and forum to a new web hosting company, AND upgrade it to phpbb3. Yes, it's the company where one of the owners works for HostMonster. They did, but didn't change the path name, even though I asked. So, it IS a BB3, even though it says BB2.
I always say I know just enough to be dangerous, and if you look at my logo, you will see why. Is there an easy fix for this? PLEASE keep in mind that I'm on the bottom rung of the ladder on doing edits. I am learning, but if you have a fix for me, please really spell it out. I so appreciate help if you have some.
Question 1: Can you tell me how to FIX the current look and make room for my image?
Question 2: If I can replace the entire header and use a banner, rather than just a photo on one side, can you tell me both how to do it AND give me the actual dimensions the logo should be to show well on most displays? I can then size it as I build it in Photoshop Elements. I feel so wimpy doing this because I'm so lost! I read somewhere that 1024x150 or so is a good banner size for these forums.
BTW, so many "fixes" I read about tell to make changes to your pro-silver template. I'm not sure I understand that, if I'm using another template. I'm using a phpBB3 template named, "Rainbow Pearl."
Hope I didn't ask too many questions... Thanks in advance,
Angie
