Can we the users upgrade our PHP version?

I am trying to install wikimedia and it will not work with the current PHP version.
It requires any version above 4.*
Can users upgrade their PHP or this upgrade is an upgrade that takes place across the board for everybody if it takes place?

You can request to be moved to a server that runs a higher version of php, but hostmonster, to my knowledge, runs 4.4.4 and 5.0. From what you said about your script, it should work.

No you cannot update PHP yourself. The only version that you can upgrade too is PHP5 and as shadmego said, you'll have to contact support to do that.

Wikimedia should would on the PHP that is installed, if it's not, then it's another problem other than the PHP version. Are you getting any erorrs? What are the problems?

The only error that I am getting is when I run the install script in which case it says that it requires PHP 5.0.
I went to setup wikimedia locally in my machine just to test it out and I did not have a problem. I am using PHP 5.0 in my machine by the way.

If it does really need PHP5, then use chat, call, or send an email to support and they can move you to a box that has PHP5.

went with the older version of mediawiki-1.6.8 and it works :)
