Difference of loading speed between addon domain and primary domain

Is there any difference in page loading speed between an addon domain and primary domain? My primary domain has a very poor traffic and one of my addon domains has a very good traffic. I just want to know if I make my addon domain as my primary domain, would I see any change in speed (page loading speed) in it?

If there is a change in speed then I can take the hassel of changing the primary domain because changing an addon domain to the primary domain means I have to upload all the files of all the addon domains again (I have 3 addon domains now)!
