View Full Version : Add On Domain: Do I really need the default files?

Hello,

I purchased an add on domain so that I could set up a new website. This is the second time I've purchased an add on so there was no trouble there.

The last time I purchased an add on domain, addondomain.com was automatically added to my public_html with all the usual default files. That website has been just fine ever since.

I just purchased another add on domain, but this time it added addondomain to the public_html (there is no .com at the end of the folder name this time). On top of that, it doesn't have any of the default files that came with the first 2 domains.

Question is, do I really need any of those default files? The 404 just looks pretty, right? Can I just make my own 404 and forget about it, should I just copy the files over from my other domain or should I do something else entirely?

The main thing I'm worried about is security. I don't want someone to use my site as extra space for his pr0n collection.

Thanks in advance for any replies!

You shouldn't have any issues with this addon domain. You can either make new error pages or copy the ones from other domains over, depending on how much time you want to spend on this.

I transfered an old domain over as an addon and it didn't give me anything other than a cgi-bin folder, so I don't think you have anything to worry about. Security will come with the pages you create, and be *mostly* on your shoulders.
