Joomla and phpbb3 [Archive] - Hostmonster Forums

Anyone know how to intergrate phpbb3 and joomla? I installed phpbb3 with joomla and I added the link to the forums and it opens in a little window, I tried resizing it the joomla CP, but, no good. Anyone know how to fix this? I posted the same thing last night at joomlas forums, but no one ever responded( some support forums) If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it, thanks.

The Joomla! support forums are perhaps the best support forums I've ever seen. You have to be more patient though, when asking for help because sometimes it takes longer than expected to get a reply to your question.

In regards to your question, you are using the wrapper to show the phpbb3 forum inside Joomla!. In order for this to work, you will have to use a template that provides enough room for the full width of the forum, or find a forum template that will fit into the area you want to place it in.

Basically, the wrapper is nothing more than a way to show a different webpage inside the Joomla! template structure, so if the structure is too small, then the page won't "fit" properly.

As far as integrating the forum, are you only referring to showing it properly inside Joomla!, or are you wanting to share the user database between the two programs?

I guess I'll wait on them a little longer.

I want it to be able to load up on it's seperate page, like when you click forums it take you to the forums. I really don't want inside the joomla homepage, although it's not a bad idea.

I already have it installed in the same DB, is that a good or bad thing?

If you want both programs to share user information, you would have to have them installed in the same database. If not, then it wouldn't matter, but I think it's a good thing, in case you want that feature later on.

So, how can I have my forums open in it's own window?

All you have to do is create a menu item that points to the url of the forum. Log into the Joomla! administration area, open the menu you want to add the link to, click on "new" and select the Link - URL option. Fill in the boxes to your liking and you are off.

You can even choose to open the link in a new window or in the same window.
