Hi, if this question has been asked before I apologise, but couldn't find it.
I have just bought an addon domain, and set the nameservers up.
The addon shows in the domain manager, but in the control panel it only shows as a file without the .com extension. When I try to access it on the internet, all I get is;
Index of /
* cgi-bin/
Apache/2.2.6 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.6 OpenSSL/0.9.8g DAV/2 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 Server at www.essentialhealthanddiet.com Port 80
Can anybody help please.

If you add an index.html file, you will no longer see that. I am surprised, however, that there isn't a HostMonster default.htm file in there already. Did you remove anything?

No...I have learned from past experiences not to mess with the root files.:eek:
I have done as you suggested, and it worked. Thankyou,

click on the little blue folder icon an the left of the domain to open it.
when you are inside, uplad ANY page you already have at your Desktop
After uploading is complete go and check over the url if it opens, even without pics and so it should show you a page. If YES, all is fine and you just miss the index as above explained

Is it possible to make the Addon into the primary domain and put the primary domain in the Addon's place?

It is not possible for you to do that through cpanel, but you could request it from Hostmonster. They would have to recreate your account, so all your files in your main account would be deleted.
But why would this matter? Both will function as if they were normal doamins and you can have email, stats, MySQL etc with all domains just like with the original.

I have 2 good reasons. :)
1) You can't do the /cpanel thing with an Addon. You have to do that with the Primary. I know that sounds lazy but it's more convenient if I could do that with the other domain.
2) I'm not working on my Primary domain anymore so it makes more sense to have my cPanel and other stuff focus on my Addon.
Besides I don't have any important files uploaded at the moment.

1. Yes you can. I just tested it out on an addon domain I installed last week. www.addon.com/cpanel (http://www.addon.com/cpanel) will take you to your CPanel account. Of course, you will have to use the primary user and password to log in, but it can be done.
2. Your primary domain is tied to your user account. The only way you can completely switch everything over is to ask Support to wipe your account and recreate it using the addon domain information. You can also make your addon domian actually be a parked domain, thus pointing your new domain name to the same location as the primary one. That way, your public_html folder would be the same for each. The you just hand out the web address using the new name rather than the primary ...
If you really just want to change it, you would have to ask support to do it for you, and you would lose any and all information including email addresses.
