Slow e-mail sending

Hi,
I am sending e-mails via PHP script (sendmail method). Sending is terribly slow and e-mails arrive to testing gmail acoount after 1,5 hour (or even don´t arrive). I´m gonna to send registration activating e-mails to users and I could´t allow them to wait so long. Any ideas? The same script on godaddy hosting sends e-mail immediately.

Thanks I'm not the only one who is having mail problems.

HM and Bluehost have DEFINITELY some work to do in this respect. The mail service SUCKS (in plain english). Autoresponder - forget it, not one will arrive.

I signed in at AWeber Autoresponder to bypass this.

We need some help here from someone who is using this, if nobody is able means most probably that nobody use HM mail service.

This one has me as well as I have a system generated email receipt in place and would obviously like for it to arrive after the order is placed. Even when I'm doing testing, it's spotty. Sometimes, it's instantaneous, other times it can take hours.

Why is it so erratic?
