I actually monitor this daily and twice have found problems. So it is a helpful tool:

http://serverstatus.hostmonster.com/

However, it has been down more than 24 hours. I opened a trouble ticket and never even got a reply from support. Concerns me just a little that HM does not seem to be interested or would take a moment to reply.

The support staff has over 700,000 domains to take care of. Tickets take awhile to sort through, especially when people submit the same ticket multiple times. If you want immediate support, use the phone or live chat. They work quite well.

Seems like kind of a brisk reply to my post.

This is THEIR server support message broadcast, not mine. And what makes you think I submitted this more than once?

I would think they would appreciate knowing it was down since it appears they did not. And that some here may not have even know about it and learn about a new tool once it is back.

And I am surpised not to get at least an acknowledgment from them in 24 hours. 700,000 sites or not, if you can not reply to a customer in 24 hours, you need more support staff.

But screw it. If all you can reply is in the tone I think was implied above, I have better things to do than post here.

Well you're not going to get much help with that attitude. Sjlplat explained nicely why you have not gotten a reply from your ticket and gave you another and faster way of contacting hostmonster. He never accused you of sending more than one ticket (are you feeling guilty?), but in general that's why tickets are so backed up. If you can't accept help then you're right, you DO have better things to do than post here and we don't want you here.

This is a user to user forum, we are all users just like you. None of us work for hostmonster. Sometimes once in a blue moon, will someone from hostmonster staff post a comment. So we can't tell you why your site is down but can only give suggestions on how you can get your answer. Again, if you can't graciously accept the help you asked for, then don't post here.

I'm not sure how you can establish a tone from a standard forum post; nevertheless, I assure you that there are no implications to my responses.

Multiple helpdesk tickets are a common problem with the current system. It is recommended that critical support issues be conveyed via telephone or live chat.

I agree. Support resolved a problem for me in about half an hour. The secret was Live Chat and something else to do while I waited for the chat to 'answer'. Getting a chat response took about 10 minutes, then another 10 for them to fix a broken DNS entry. Not bad.

Well, maybe I read too much into the original reply since it was so off the mark as a comment to my post. Sorry.

And it is NOT MY SITE, it is a HM utililty site I thought folks might like to know about. And I still think any ticket should get some reply within 24 hours or there is not enough help at the help desk. Was not worth calling them as it is not mission critical and they have enough to do. And no, I did not send more than one ticket and have nothing to feel guilty about.

Anyway, site is back up now if anyone else finds it useful.
