I had my website up and running..... then I created a new one with Publisher. It was all done and new and pretty..... etc... I uploaded the new site and it all went down hill from there.... I thought that I could just upload the new files and replace one index.html page with another.... and the files would just follow suit. Anyways... I want to know if I can just clear the slate... delete all the files....and re-upload everything from scratch. Cause now this is what I get when I type in my domain mame:
-----------------------
# -FrontPage- Options None order deny, allow deny from all allow from all require group authors administrators order deny, allow deny from all AuthType Basic AuthName www.reynasartcreations.com AuthUserFile /home/reynasar/public_html/_vti_pvt/service.pwd AuthGroupFile /home/reynasar/public_html/_vti_pvt/service.grp
-------------------------

Thanks! Remember that patience is a virtue.....:D

Yes, you can delete the files you uploaded and upload new ones.

What do you make of that gibberish that is on the page when I try to open it?

Not sure but my guess is it has something to do with not having front page extensions installed on the site. Make sure you enable that for your domain if you are using any of Microsoft product for your design.

Looks like, for some strange reason, FrontPage has put the Apache .htaccess file contents into the index.html file...

Strange. But then again, its Microsoft :D

o.k. I deleted and uploaded. The folder on my desktop was called "ReynasArt" --- the FTP instructions said that I should rename the folder to index-----so I changed it but now it is like this:

public_html/index/index.html

What did I do wrong?

There should not be a separate index directory. index.html should be under the public_html directory. With the current structure, your site can be viewed at http://www.reynasartcreations.com/index/

OMG! I have nearly pulled my hair out trying to fix all of the mistakes that I keep making.....with all the uploading/downloading/renaming/...etc... either the index page shows up but without images or the links don't work....OMg... How EXACTLY do I do what you did? public_html/index ? How?

Are you publishing with Frontpage, or uploading your files separately?

I created the site with Publisher. I uploaded with Hosmonster FTP. The whole thing. Not a file at a time. Obviously I am not a web designer.... but am trying to do as much of what I can-- for my business-- by myself as I am just getting started.

Upload your files to public_html folder. You did it almost right except you put them in a new folder named index no need for a new folder just straight to the public_html dir

O.K. I re-uploaded the file directly to public_html and now I am able to see my home page online...yay! BUT...the rest of the links don't go.....nor do any of the images show up? What's that about?

If you have deleted the images in the index carpet and submit them to the public_html you have to change the paths, now you have this index_files/image353.gif and should be simply image353.gif or http://www.reynasartcreations.com/image353.gif
