All the online chat representatives say only 8 connections at the same time, but I get these from ticket:

Hello, The max is 50 connections at once with ftp. If there is anything else we can do for you, let us know.

Who should I believe?

Can any user or technician help me out?

Why would you need to connect to your site more than once at a time. Unless you are giving a ftp access to the world on your website.

I want to setup a website to share files by ftp within my friends.

Ok ... not sure. Ask Host Monster. Live Chat: hostmonster.com or call them. It's on the main page of hostmonster.

Well, according to the FTP MOTD message:

220-You are user number 3 of 50 allowed.

Since I only have one connection myself, I'd assume that the number 50 is a global, per-server limit. If support then says something else, that may be a per-account limit.

You should ask support for the specifics (per-account vs. per-server etc)

I teach a Web design class and needed multiple FTP connections for my students. I was told hostmonster supports 8 concurrent processes. A process is taken up by one ftp user and each file being transferred. Therefore, 8 concurrent processes can be easily taken up by a few users. We had so many issues transferring our files, I had to get a second hosting account. Hey, 8 concurrent processes suck, but it beats GoDaddy.com, which allows 2 concurrent processes. Now that we have two hosting accounts, my students transfer their files with minimal rejected connections.
