Problem Downloading things from my account??

I used fantastico to download a forum to my website, I wanted to do some editing to the forum i downloaded. everytime i downloaded a file to a file to a folder every seemed to go well but when i go to open the file from the folder i downloaded it from, I don't see anything. Am i doing something wrong please help me.

I apologize, but none of what you just said makes any sense.

Fantastico does not download anything. It installs programs. I assume you installed either phpbb or smf through fantastico, which would make sense, but that is as far as I can get in deciphering what you're saying.

What do you mean you downloaded a file to a file to a folder? What do you mean you can't see anything in the file from the folder you downloaded?

Please explain! We can't help if we can't understand what you are asking.

Sorry about my poor stated question, so here we go again....
I installed smf to my website, when i went to File:unlimited ftp.
I checked the installed contents and downloaded one of the files to my computer's hardrive.
Then i went to open the file using dreamweaver, but i couldn't find it. I re-downloaded it numerous but i still couldn't find it in my computer. But everytime i go back to unlimited ftp, it shows that the file was downloaded to my computer.
