I have a newly moved website on HM. There are two CGI scripts used on the pages. cart.cgi and formmail.cgi

The scripts are still referred to the old email and IP. I am a PC person.
I do not have a Unix or Linux machine, and cannot reach the man that did the scripts.

I have several questions!

In the cgi-bin dir there are both perl and cgi files. Does a cgi script need another file in perl - or are these just dupes - or are they extra files?
I have both formmail.cgi and formmail.pl called. Do formmail.pl and formmail.cgi work together?

I can recreate one page and use javascript for the contact page, but the cart must run off the cart.cgi. and it call formmail.cgi

Any suggestions - other than buy a new computer?

TIA
Ann

for my formmail script I only use 1 file. Do you need the script to be edited? I can help you with that. I don't really understand what you are trying to say.

I am later than I thought. Did hear from my cgi guy, but not any changes yet.

Can I download a software that will allow a PC to edit cgi scripts? I need to learn more...

Thanks!

Umm you can't edit them? Why can't you edit them? Just open them with a Text Editor in any operating system! If you can't send them to me I will edit them than I will send them back and have it replace your old ones.

I was told they had to be edited on a Unix / Linux machine. I had the feeling that just passing through a Windows machine would contaminate it!!

True or untrue?

Thanks!:o

Untrue! Send it to me and I can edit for you.

:( The CGI guy is sitting on the HM server now.

If nothing gets done by this eve, I will send it.
The website is www.malpass.com. There is a contact page that uses formmail, and parts page, where each linked page calls a cart.cgi and includes the formmail.

If I opened notepad and changed the referrers, then uploaded to cgi-bin via FTP, all would work?

I do not know anything about writing code... I am good at filling in though!

Thanks a bunch!
Ann

You have to upload in ASCII. Ok. Well if it isn't working send it to me. I learned Perl and CGI a while ago. And use it everyday.
