I am a newbie to this field. Anyway, after getting signed in I managed to install a template from fantastico. But there were many codes written on it. However I managed to remove them. Now my problem is that it is working only on index.html page. What should I do for the template to be seen on each of my web pages.

One more thing I want to know is that can I have template intalled from any other options inside hosmonster. Or can I Install it from my own computer.

Greetings, and welcome to the Hostmonster User Community!

Unfortunately, in order for us to help you, you are going to have to be more specific in your question. For instance, what are you talking about when you say, "I installed a template from fantastico"? What do you mean by "there were many codes"?

Please be more specific as it will help us troubleshoot your problem much easier and quicker.

Mr. Shadmego,
Thanks for taking interest in my query.

By the phrase "there were many codes" I mean to say that the template was not blank. This was only for details of the problem.

My main problem is not these details but it is :-

The template I have installed in visible only on first page of my webpages. How can I make it visible/appear on each and every page of my website.

Hope to get reply soon

Thanks

MCB

Is it possible to provide a link to your website so I can take a look?

I just installed a default template from the same place in Fantastico. You can view the result [link no longer valid].

The only suggestion I can make to you is to try an reinstall the template from scratch. It seems like much of your links and page structure has been deleted or broken.

Just go to Fantastico and uninstall what was done ... then go through and reinstall the template ... if you still want to use something like this.

Might I ask what you plan to do with your website? Will you be updating content often or are your pages going to remain the same for a long time? The reason I ask this is because static pages, such as what this program installs, are difficult to add to and modify. If you use a content management system, then you have a management interface where you can add, modify and delete content for your website without going into the actual code and breaking your site beyond repair.

The best way to describe what Content Management Systems are is to simply show you. I have a demo website built, which is still in progress, that shows various CMSs side-by-side. The site also has a basic definition of CMS and links to three software program sites where you can learn even more about each system.

My problem is very simple. I want to know; how to make it possible that any template loaded once must appear, automatically, on each and every web pages of my site

When you install a template through Fantastico, it should have installed a defaut set number of template pages. You can go into File Manager and make copies of those pages, naming them something else to expand your website. The new pages should then keep the same template you installed.

Those templates, to use properly, will require some level of knowledge of CSS and HTML because you will have to update each page manually. If you add pages, you will have to add menu items to point to those pages. If you don't have any kind of knowledge of CSS or HTML, I would recommend installing a different program, like a Content Management System mentioned above. That way, you don't have to worry about CSS or HTML, and your template will remain constant throughout your website.

If that didn't answer your question, I would ask that you try to be more specific, if possible.
