I am planning to start a new interactive site please suggest which will be the best site made on platforms like PHP Nuke, Joomla, HTML or... any other.

My second question:

Which is the best, cheap and reliable hosting company for blogs?

Thanks in advance.

What sort of site will it be? This and what features you require will drive what the best platform would be.

Also I'm assuming you have a HostMonster account? If so, why not just use HostMonster? :D

Actually I have a travel website, but I am not convinced with its layout. Please visit the site: www.travelspan.in. How did you like the site. My colleagues told me to shift to PHP-Nuke/Joomla. These sites have features of interacting with visitors, I mean I want to register visitors on my site. I also want to have a travel blog and travel forums. Please advice.

Also Hostmonster hosts websites as well? I am sorry I am new to this forum and do not know more about Hostmonster.

HOSTMONSTER, of course !!!!!!!!! (http://cbrich.com/ct/?v=_hostmonster)

I've been hosting my blogs with them for a couple of years. I run TYPO3, a pretty resource hungry CMS, and NO other host can host TYPO3 quite as well as Hostmonster does.

BTW, nice looking web site you've got there.

So what do you suggest? Is there any need to switch over to PHP Nuke or Joomla or any other format for the site www.travelspan.in.

See my other sites: www.bookmyhotel.biz and www.staynfly.com . Any comments.

You have not replied my answer whether I can host blogs and forums with my site. In January I need to renew my hosting place.

I look forward to your answer.

Thanks.

To reiterate what Mojojuju said: Yes, you can host blogs & websites on Hostmonster.

As to whether or not you want to make the transition to PhpNuke or Joomla!, that is up to you. While I don't use either at present, I am planning on converting my sites over to Joomla! as I believe it will be much easier to manage everything, and there are lots of additional plugins & widgets available to make very attractive sites, blogs, etc.

Any tutorials on Joomla? How to maintain the SQL scripts? Will hostmonster extend help in setting up Joomla site?

Hostmonster has a tool called Fantastico which lets you install Joomla. You will be able to install it from there. For the Tutorials, not sure these will hlp but, http://www.compassdesigns.net/tutorials/joomla-tutorials/, and some video tutorials,
http://help.joomla.org/component/option,com_wrapper/Itemid,253/.
You can have a forum from Hostmonster, it is also in Fantastico. You can choose from installing SMF or Phbb2. They will come up like www.staynfly.com/SMF or www.staynfly.com/phbb2.

You'd be wanting this webpage (http://help.joomla.org/content/category/15/99/132/)... This is the Installation Guide for Joomla.
This is a great link posted by r2b2!

Thank you very much Mojojuju! It's taking me a lot longer to complete than I had hoped. A lot if health and financial issues have slowed the project down. I'm still gathering components, but haven't been able to take & post pictures of them yet. :o

I've acquired some solar panels, a small a/c refrigerator, a propane heater, and various & sundry other small stuff to enhance the rework. I've also been experimenting with other alternative energy stuff to make it as self-sufficient as possible.

I've been toying with led lighting, experimenting with and prototyping Savonius wind turbines using old hard drive bearings & spindles and a slew of other little projects that will all come into play on it eventually. If you want to see some really sweet completed skoolies as well as others in progress I recommend going to this site and view the gallery and peruse the forum. They're a GREAT bunch of guys and gals. It's been one of the most fun forums I've joined. Here's the url: www.skoolie.net . The home page and gallery are graphics intensive, just a warning in case you're on dial-up.

One of the guys there is selling his 60' articulated transit bus, and I've been seriously thinking about relieving him of it. Since GMC Scenicruisers are extremely scarce (not to mention expensive), it's gonna be as close as I'll ever get.

Whoops, sorry for the rambling post folks! I can't help it, I LOVE my bus!
