:confused:

I just purchased Hostmonster after talking to the Tech guy on the phone. He told me I could EASILY create a website with no problem. I told hime I have never built a site and he said it wouldn't matter. I have made 3 websites- but all with sitebuilder type hosting companies- you know, the kind where you just type in what you want to say and hit ENTER and it appears, you can add graphics and pictures, etc, etc- like TRELLIX,etc.
Anyway, I have NO knowledge of HTML and have never built a website. I purchased HOSTMONSTER because I want to put several videos online and someone recommended me to get a host site that had a lot of space (like the 300gig's on Hostmonster).
Did I make a mistake?
I have no idea where to start, I looked at Fantastico and am unsure if I just download the things I like, etc.

Can ANYONE give me advice- or should I cancel the order and go back to what I know? ( the cut and paste, drag and drop site)

I appreciate any and all replies and also your honesty.
Thank you
vicki

I believe the tech guy was referring to Page Wizard. A simple way to create websites that allows you to see what you are doing as you make the changes. This type of program is commonly referred to as a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor.

It is a good idea to get a host tha gives you a ton of space (which HM does), but I don't want you getting nervous about thinking you don't know what you are doing. It honestly is not that difficult.

The videos you want to put on your site, do you want people to download them? View them in a webpage? Both? Did you want to say anything about them? Would it be possible to give us an idea of what you want to do with your website?

I would hate to see it, but if you decide not to stick with HM, you are allowed up to 30 days before you lose your full refund. You can still cancel after that, but you won't get a full refund after 30 days. I suggest at least giving HM a few weeks to see if you want to keep it.

I would almost guarantee you can learn enough to get your site up with videos running in that time, given your current level of knowledge.

How much are you willing to learn?

~regards, and welcome to the Hostmonster community!

Or you can purchase a web designer to design your site.

For a video on your site,

<html>
<body>

<object
classid="clsid:22D6F312-B0F6-11D0-94AB-0080C74C7E95">
<param
name="FileName"
value="Source Here" />
</object>

</body>
</html>

Thank you for your replies,
Right now I do not have the funds for a webdesigner.
I will try the Page Maker. I also have a macbook which allows me to make pages, but am not sure how to upload them.

What I plan on having is an Internet Talk Show where people can comment and respond to the videos.
Then, have a list of affiliate links on the right side so I can maybe generate some money that way. As the show takes off, I plan on getting sponsors and then will pay a web designer for a great site...but for now, I just want to put SOMETHING up there.
I want the videos on the site to be separate from You Tube, because on You Tube, they do not allow advertising.

Any suggestions?

Thank you,
Vicki

I would recommend using YouTube to your benefit. Upload your videos to YouTube to generate traffic, and direct people to your website. On your website, you can post the same YouTube videos with their supplied cut & paste code, along with a comment system and advertisements.
