Hi all,
I'm totally new to websites, and need some help!
I want to launch a forum right away, and then work on the rest of the site for the next few months. Can I get a forum through Hostmaster?
And can I set it up so that when people type in my domain name, they are directed straight to the forum?
Thanks:cool:

You can install a forum from Fantastico. It can be installed in the main directory of your account, which will direct users directly to the forum when visiting.

Thanks for the response!
So I would need to register with Hostmonster first, and then go to Fantastico?
(pardon my ignorance in these things!)

Fantastico is a software programme that comes with your Hostmonster account inside your Control Panel. It's used to automatically install other software (such as forums and blogs) on your account.
If you're already signed up with Hostmonster, log into your Control Panel and you can find Fantastico under "Software/Services" and have a look around.

Welcome to the Hostmonster Community! We are glad to have you here with us.
If you want to use the features offered by Hostmonster, then yes, you will need to sign up for an account with them. What you are basically doing is renting hard drive space on their web servers (computers that hold websites and other web related services).
As has been stated, Hostmonster offers several features to all their customers/clients/etc and one of them is Fantastico -- an auto installer of various web related programs such as blogs, Content Management Systems, Shopping Carts, and Forums.
Oh, and don't worry about sounding foolish in your knowledge. We are all here to help you when you run into problems with your website. All we ask is you take the time to ask your questions and help research the answers!
~regards
