Part of file manager missing

Sometimes my file manager is missing the section that includes the name of the folder I am in, back and forward buttons, reload, up one level, etc.
What's going on and what can I do about it?

This used to happen to me also, until I discovered that it only happened when I was in 800x600 screen resolution. Before using cPanel, I always switch to a higher resolution, and the problem has never reoccurred.

This public college computer is set at 1024x768, and I don't think anybody's been messing with the screen settings. Yesterday I had trouble, today is fine.
My suspicion was that hostmonster sometimes gets stressed for whatever reason. But that was just a guess.
Anyway, I learned how to work around the problem.
