Fantastico wordpress upgrade

Does anyone know why Fantastico always seems to be one release behind wordpress in the upgrade function? I've been waiting for it to be ready to upgrade to 2.2.2 and now that they just released 2.3 I noticed that Fantastic finally has 2.2.2. (it might have had it a couple weeks ago and I just didn't noticed).

Anyone know?

I can't answer why Fantastico is always one version behind, but I can agree that it is.

If you want the latest version of Wordpress, you can always install it manually. I would be very sure to back everything up first, and read up until you are comfortable with the upgrade, but it should not be that difficult. The only thing you might give up is any future updates via Fantastico. But then, if you get comfortable with the manual upgrade, then you may not miss Fantastico.

I usually only use Fantastico to install a program quickly for testing purposes anyway.

I just don't have a lot of time to futz with upgrading so fantastico is perfect. I love how easy it is to work with. one of my blogs runs a auto-upgrade plugin... but I'd prefer to stick with fantastico because it's centralized and easy.
