View Full Version : posting by e-mail
I am using WordPress blog ap. Wanting to initiate the ability for members to post new threads or comments via the e-mail portal that shows being available. For some reason, the steps shown in the "help documentation" don't do the trick. Has anyone else gotten this to work. How?
Thanx
I've been using Wordpress for about 2 years now, and I have never messed with this function. Too many things have to be allowed on the server, compromises security.
Having the user login to their /wp-admin is a lot simpler, takes the same amount of time, and obviously gives them more functionality.
I would recommend just staying with that.
Edit:
Looking into this more I found some WP documentation that may help you, there are about 18 steps here, and code that must be inserted onto certain PHP pages.

I got a WordPress plugin (free) called Postie to work for me. I had to create an email account in my domain for postie to 'read'. Anything I send to that account, gets posted. You can configure postie for automatic operation using cron in your cPanel. The installation steps for postie were clear enough for me to get it working on almost the first try. You can control WHO can post and some elements (comments allowed or not for instance) and category.
