View Full Version : Spam Assasin
Since Spam is an increasing problem for me I am interested in the various tools available to combat it. In Contol panel I notice there is an option for Spam Assassin. However it states that viewing messages sent to the Spam folder can only be viewed using IMAP or Horde. Isn't there some way to use Outlook Express with Spam Assassin?

If you enable Spambox, this is the case. Just enabling Spam Assasin you can have it rewrite the subject to have something in it like ***SPAM*** and let your email client throw these in a seperate folder.

Just a fair warning. When my most used email account was set to use spamassassin I still recieved a very large amount of spam. This was at a fairly aggressive setting as well.

Does this mean that if I configure Spam Assassin to show the subject as **SPAM*** all of my incoming mail will have that header or just the "suspect" mail? Then do I set a message rule in Outook Express to send all messages with that header to a special folder which I will set up?

There are two questions here. Is there no one willing to provide an answer?

to my knowledge, only suspect mail should come with the configured subject line which should be in ADDITION to the actual subject line.
yes to the second question.
word of advice, go through your spam folder every now and again... its possible you lose the million dollar email... from south africa... where they need a north american bank account to deposit money to... ;)
Thank you. I'll give it a try.
