Hey, how's it goin'?
Huge problem:

I use Frontpage and slapped one of their ready-made guestbooks onto my webpage: www.maatunidy.com . Then, a bombardment of spam just ruined the whole damn thing for everybody.
The scrollbar slider was at the smallest possible size because I got so much crap - it didn't even make sense - it read like fractured sentences and random clippings from magazines. Of course, every few lines you'd get something about penis enlargement, cialis, or viagra.

I know of codes that are used to prevent automated responses like this, but I don't know how to implement them. Anyone have any advise or suggestions? I'd love ya for it!

Thanks,
Maat :D

Most of that spam crap is done by bots, you need a setting in there that makes sure a human is actually trying to enter information.

Such as those pictures with the wacky looking letters and numbers that have to be typed in before posting.

Yea,
those pictures with the wacky looking letters and numbers that have to be typed in before posting that's what I meant before but you put it in far better terms than I.

I need some of those.

Anyone know how to get them?

Thanks,
Maat

Scrap whatever guestbook you are using and look for one that supports captchas. That is the term for those funky looking letter things. I use "php Guestbook" and have never been spammed but don't know of any specific FrontPage ones.

Alright, sweet!

I'll try searching for captchas and look at the php guestbook.

Thanks,
Maat

I've got a CAPTCHA enabled guestbook available for download on my website. It uses flat files to store data, so no database is required. You can get it at http://www.myphpscripts.net
