I am trying to moving from phpbb v2.0.22 to phpbb v3.0.
The new phpbb has a very nice database conversion program converts your old database into the new program.
However, it must be very CPU intense because the couple of times when I tried it, after a couple of minutes I get the Account Suspended due to too much CPU usage message.
So my question is: How do can I temporarily get past this CPU usage limit just for the few minutes it will take to convert the database?

seem like you need to bring the load off the server to complete this.
can you try setup remote mysql, and run the script locally.. just a wild solution.
by this.. you can run it whole day

That sounds a bit beyond my ability to pull off. I would have no idea on how to do that.
Ideas anyone?
Have you tried contacting the support guys? Maybe they can run it for you without the limits?

I have tried and amazingly Hostmonster is un-willing to do anything to help.

It's not the hosters responsibility to help you build your site. They give you the space and it's assumed that you know what you're doing.
Talk to the people on the PHPBB forums. They can help.

Maybe you can converts your old database into the new program in localhost (install apache, php, and mysql at localhost).

I realize this, but it would be so much more simple to just let me run the conversion. I even offered to pay for the extra CPU usage.
I mean we are only talking about a few minutes worth of extra CPU usage while the database converts.

This is a user to user forum. As it has been suggested get with hostmonster support. They might be able to work something out. If not you'll have to convert the DB in steps
