I'm just curious. I don't actually know what the benefits of php 5 are over php 4.4.4

I recently had hostmonster move my account to a server with php 5 support. The main reason I wanted it was for the simpleXML functions available in php 5.

Well PHPbbs as Modded as mine is will not work with PHP 5 I hope they will give us a choice to keep 444 version if we need it.

Looks like its available on request. That's nice. Great service from HM, as always.

I just submitted a ticket that went like this:

Greetings,

This is a request to have my account moved to a server with PHP 5.

Thank you

Oh, might help to include your domain and password, as that's what they asked me to give them when they replied.

That seems odd that they would need your password...

I distrust setups that require that....

Thanks for the info though! :)

:) Yes I do agree with you on that matter but sometimes the host needs the password. They do not have access to it. Or you can still ask for the the PHP change and when they ask you for your password you can simply ask them why do they need it ??

And then go from there..

I requested it. They asked for my full name and the last 4 digits of my credit card on account. I was upgraded within 24 hours*. Awesome service!

* Service may vary.

I asked to be moved to PHP 5 and I suspect my account was moved within 24 hours, because about 10 hours later, I got 404 errors everywhere. It's been 36 additional hours now, and my site hasn't come back.

I just wanted to check if this was a regular experience or if this means something went horribly wrong. :confused:

Edit: I think my main domain just expired, because my addon is now working.
