IRC Server

I run a small php design community and currently use freenodes to host a small IRC Chatroom. Does hostmonster allow us to install an IRC Server Application to host it internally rather then through freenodes?

Good question, I know that HostMonster allows you to run certain server applications as long as you buy a dedicated ip from them which costs some additional money (you won't be able to accept connections unless you buy the dedicated ip). Remember that HostMonster also has a CPU limit system so if your irc server uses more than 20% of the CPU, your account will be suspended for about 5 minutes. So best suggestion is to make sure your irc server is efficient and won't overload their system

the best is to double check with hostmonster support in first place.
Email them, together with the script version and homepage, and requirement.
