Ihave an addon domain to my main domain. I have user names etc. to enter in my ftp program, but what do I enter for the server? Is it ftp.domain#1 and ftp.domain#2 or what? I keep getting error 503.
Thank you for any help to answer what may be a stupid question. Is hostmonster any different from other hosts?:confused:

Treat the addon domain as a separate domain. If you want to FTP to that domain, you would enter that address.

For example: If your main domain is xxx.com and your addon domain is addon.com, you would FTP to addon.com.

regardless how many addon you having...
your ftp is the same.. login to the ftp, and public_html will be where main domain content is. your addon domain will appear in foldering. put your content inside

I can access and upload to my main site www.main.com, but cannot access addon .com. I have tried [email]addonname@main.com and [email]addonname@main.com/addonname as per ftp manager but I get winsock error 500. I have checked my password and it is ok. I do not want to spend another 2 days trying out different combinations.

Your Cpanel login/password are used to access the FTP server for all your domains.

Ok, heres what you do in a ftp program.

Host: Put in "ftp.yourdomain.(com/net/whatever)"
Username: Your default 8 digit username
Password: Your default password

This will connect you to your main site ftp. To get to your other domain name go to the www directory and look inside. There will be a folder with your other domain's name on it. You simply go into that directory, and you have now accessed your other domain's ftp.

Example:

Main site= example.net
Addon= addon.net

Host= ftp.example.net

Go to www directory and look for a folder named addon

Hope this helps

You should either have an ftp account already created when you made your add-on domain, or you can make one. If you want your ftp to be able to access everything, then use your main account name.

You can use the cPanel tool for ftp management to create an ftp account that can only access a particular folder (ie: the root folder of your add-on domain). This is most useful if you've granted someone else the right to use some of your HostMonster space.
