What is this scripting thing?

As seen in this (http://www.hostmonsterforum.com/showthread.php?t=967) thread the ex-user complains about getting support. I never knew you had to be a computer expert to make one simple website. In my case, all I need is to be able to report front page news and maybe create another page for a seperate topic but with scripting, I have no idea of what would come out of buying a website. :confused: :(

It's not necessary to understand scripting in order to build a web site. Once you understand the basics of making a web site, scripting can help you add cool features to your site like visitor tracking, automatically updated information on your site, email contact forms... The list goes on and on.

If you're stuck on where to start building your site, so a google search for "how to build a web site" and/or post your questions here. There's many people at this forum who not only have the information to help you, but many are good at explaining difficult concepts in an easy to understand way.

You don't need to be a computer expert to build a basic website. There are a lot of tools available to help beginners get started.

Hostmonster provides pre-installed scripts that can do all the dirty work for you. All you need to do is provide the content. From the sound of it, Wordpress is something that would suit your needs. Hostmonster can automatically install and setup Wordpress for you with the provided cPanel. You can also use html editors such as Frontpage or Dreamweaver, which function almost like a word processor.

If you're interested in learning how to write the code yourself, there are a lot of very good tutorials available on the web. After about 2 weeks of reading online tutorials, I was writing and releasing GPL php scripts to the public. With practice, my scripts are becoming more complex. There's no reason why you can't achieve the same. :)
